Restoring 4 Fish

Restoring 4 Fish

Paul Greenberg, Four Fish  (credit: Random House Books)

The food writer and Atlantic fisherman, Paul Greenberg discusses the consequences of over-fishing four species of marine life. His book Four Fish: The Future of the Last Wild Food details how the mass consumption of shrimp, tuna, salmon, and cod have had long-term and negative ecological consequences for marine and coastal ecosystems. Greenberg writes that if individual consumers would make simple changes in their approach to consuming fish, we can still eat well, help depleted fisheries to recover, and the oceans benefit from the restoration process overall.

Greenberg offered his proactive environmental and seafood perspectives to an audience at a TED conference presentation. His practical approaches to long-term sustainability should be standard practice for restoring and sustaining the health and diversity of marine life. WHB
