The fires currently raging from Northern to Southern California have crossed somewhat of a milestone: the smoke and haze generated by the multiple blazes has now reached New York City, nearly 3000 miles east of the State. The National Weather Service has produced a 'big-data' visualization that shows the extent of the smoke's reach.

The Weather Service's 'Smoke Map' speaks for itself.
