Celebrating Clouds

Earth and Clouds (credit: NASA)

NASA's Earth monitoring satellites have been gathering images of the most unusual and beautiful clouds as they appear from space.

According to the Agency, the value in looking at such cloud structures from this remote-sensing vantage point is to ge an impression of the 'big picture' they provide. A wide scale, satellite view may show that clouds dropping rain today in one location are actually part of a larger system that formed previously over a completely different part of the planet.

The space agency created a visual meditation to celebrate some of these cloud forms with their landscape and atmospheric interactions.
