Other thoughts

Every day, oil, gas, mining and other energy and extractive industries are indiscriminately polluting our air, land and water as the new U.S. Congress works diligently to take away the power of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to regulate their actions and protect the well-being of the nation's people. There's something wrong with this picture.

Mr. President: Just as Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. admonished critics in 1963 from his Birmingham jail cell that our nation's indifference to the civil rights crisis demanded acts of civil disobedience, Tim DeChristopher has followed in King's call "to create a situation so crisis-packed that it will inevitably open the door to negotiation."
