Rewild the Earth

Rewild the Earth

Kristine Tompkins says: the first step to saving nature is to 'rewild' our minds.

Kris Tompkins was the former CEO of the outdoor company Patagonia. Along with and her husband, Doug, they founded Tomkins Conservation with the intent to conserve and restore degraded landscapes in Chile and Argentina. Their on-the-ground efforts have reconnected mountains, rivers, and grasslands and are now designated as national parks in both countries.

Tomkins presented their audacious project to reconnect and restore entire ecosystems and wildlife to a TED conference audience in Vancouver Canada recently. She hopes the example they set will be repeated in other people and nations where degraded landscapes need to be restored. It seems an impossible task but it can work if well planned, executed, and managed by mindful actions. WHB
