Archeologist Sarah Parcak uses infrared and commercial space photography to locate and identify lost cities and other sites. She has conducted remote sensing studies in Romania, Tunisia, and Egypt.Working with satellite imagery from Italy Parcak identified the ancient arena at Portus, its lighthouse, and a canal leading to Rome along the Tiber River. She was mentioned in The Next List as one of the "innovators, visionaries, and agents of change who are mapping a course to the future with their new ideas". Parcak explained her new discoveries to a TED audience. WHB
