Look To The Mountains

In speeching engagements and photographic presentations, mountaineer Jake Norton of Mountain World Productions has reflected on mountains and their importance to people around the world. The UN designated Norton a mountain ambassador for his deep knowledge of their current situation.

The Earth's high massifs are often referred to as 'water towers'. What will happen when their ice, glaciers, and descending rivers, that affect billions of people, decline? From California's Sierra Nevada to the Himalayas in Asia, waters draining from these high elevation landscapes, sustains entire economies and environments. The impacts of climate change on mountains is now profound so they deserve more dedicated observation, respect, and protection. Selections of Norton's essays can be read here: Look to the Mountains
