Yes, it's hot...very hot

NOAA has now confirmed what anyone living in the mid-western and southwestern USA already knew. It's hot-- very hot! Nearly 60% of the nation experienced above normal to much above normal temperatures in July and counties in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and elsewhere measured their record warmest temperatures ever. Drought now affects 17 states in the southern tier of the USA with 10 states categorized by The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as being in exceptional drought or Code D-4. The 2011 drought is as extreme as one that occurred in the mid-1950s and may be approaching the level of the Dust Bowl days of the 1930s. The current drought now affects over one-third of the nation.
