The Conservation Alliance Winter 2021 Grant Awards (credit: TCA)

The Conservation Alliance has made awards totaling $938,000 to 21 organizations in their Winter 2021 funding. The recipient organizations are all involved in grass-roots conservation efforts near them.

The Alliance was founded in 1989 by four manufacturers and retailers in the then young outdoor industry including: Patagonia, The North Face, REI, and Kelty. TCA has now grown to over 250 member companies within the industry. Their environmental goals have remained the same from the beginning:

to protect threatened wild places in North America for their habitat and recreational values. As outdoor companies, we recognize our responsibility to help conserve these wild lands and waterways on which our customers recreate and wildlife thrives. To achieve this goal, we make grants to non-profit organizations working to save special wild lands and waters.

Over the cource of their 32 year history the TCA has helped to protect 73 million acres and 3,576 river miles; remove or halt 36 dams; purchase 18 climbing areas; & designate 5 marine reserves.
