Poseidon, was the Greek god of oceans and protector of all sea creatures and horses. The Greeks believed he was the master of floods, droughts, and earthquakes as well. Poseidon gets very upset when the oceans are abused as this poor chap learned: 

World Ocean Day should be recognized all year long to remind everyone of marine environmental issues, wildlife conservation, the dangers of plastic pollution, human benefits, their beauty and wonder, and the need for global sustainability.
