Siberian grey foxes (credit: Wikipedia)

Anyone curious on how a wild creature could be domesticated should be interested in 70 years of breeding with Siberian foxes in Russia. Russian researchers in genetics and animal behavior used Siberian grey foxes, a color mutation of the red fox, and bred for Behavioral characteristics in foxes to be calm around people. With further generations of breeding, selection, and patience they created a domesticated animal. A 1977 Soviet-era film, made for the International Congress of Genetics held in Moscow, showed their results.
